I’m an organized person. I like to keep my desk clean and free of clutter. There’s one item, though, that I keep in “plain view” at all times.
This simple frame from Things Remembered with a single dollar bill was given to me by a personal training client of mine several years ago. I was just fresh out of college training at a local gym, and one of my clients was a successful businesswoman with an incredible work ethic, both inside and outside the gym.
Throughout our time working together we talked a lot about training and a lot about business, and also about my future plans and what I wanted to do with my career. This included discussion about me possibly starting my own business at some point.
One day, out of the blue, she showed up to one of our sessions with this frame, and told me to keep it as a reminder that anything was possible if I believed in myself and continued to work my tail off.
What she said must have stuck, because it has sat on my desk, occupying prime real estate, ever since. I’ve moved five times since then, and still I’ve made it a point to keep this frame visible. Most of my other “memorabilia” (even my college diploma!) are sitting in boxes out of sight. I’m thankful for the constant reminder to have faith and keep my nose to the grindstone.
After several years, a career change, plenty of mistakes, and lots of learning, Shield Training Systems, LLC is born. I’m super excited to continue to help others, and I look forward to the many mistakes I make along the way!
Thank you to JoAnne for the small but powerful gift, and thanks to all of you for following along!
